And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28: 18-20
You Were
Worth It.
The Christian sphere as a whole would like you to believe you are not worthy of Christ, and in some respects that is true. We may not be worthy, but God does believe we are worth it, and we are made worthy through Jesus Christ.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
John 3:16 NKJV
But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8 NKJV
You see if you only think about how unworthy you are to receive the gift of salvation, then you will spend your life trying to earn what was already freely offered to you.
But if in humilty you take hold of that salvation knowing it is because of God’s great love for you, well that changes things.
Suddenly, your works become driven by faith, love, joy, gratitude, and purpose rather than guilt.
This is the driving force behind The Great Commisson! For what is our faith worth if it just condemns us of our sin for the rest of our lives rather than setting us free?
There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8: 1-6 & 37-39 NKJV
When you accept the gift of salvation, there is now no condemnation and we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us! And you have the power through the Holy Spirit to live a life according to the Spirit.
So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
2 Corinthians 5:16-21 NIV
Wow. No that’s a powerful message! You may not have been worthy, but you were worth it. From the time you were in your mother’s womb you have been known by God and created in His image, and now you have the opportunity to accept the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ and become an ambassador for him, so that other may also know the goodness and love of God.
Now that’s a message worth spreading.
